- Its confirmed, Lamborghini Urus SUV concept will go into production and on sale in 2018, with an electrified powertrain option more than likely.
- “It’s in Lamborghini’s cycle plan and it won’t deviate too much from the Urus concept,” Audi Chairman Rupert Stadler told Autocar, without confirming a plug-in hybrid version.
- Sources within the Volkswagen Group have revealed the Lamborghini Urus will be manufactured at VW’s factory in Slovakia.
- Slated to go on sale early 2018, the production version of the Lamborghini Urus concept will be put together in Bratislava, Slovakia at a Volkswagen factory where it will be assembled together with the Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7, Volkswagen Touareg as well as the bodies for the forthcoming Bentley SUV due in 2016.
- Power: The plug-in hybrid version would make use of Audi’s twin-turbo four-liter V8 engine mated to an electric motor, which would output approx 600hp. With carbon fiber bodywork and an aluminum chassis, the car’s power-to-weight ratio will also be far in excess of rivals such as the electric 2015 Tesla Model X.
- A plug-in hybrid Urus SUV would also feature an electric range of between 20 and 30 miles, making it the world’s first zero emissions Lamborghini.
